1. I'm here because for a long time I've been searching for a team/community to belong to, I've never been big with sports or involved with my school so when I found out that Jill and Steve were opening a studio which offered a trade program I thought it was an excellent way to blend my love for yoga, and longing for community and belonging!
2. 6 things I can't live without: 1. WATER! 2. My family (all the people around me) 3. Fresh air 4. Education 5. Nature 6. Creativity/Expression
3. Top 3 goals:
1. To finish my university degree
2. To hike the East Coast Trail from start to finish
3. Become more organized in life
4. You can ask me about geomorphic processes and deep sea communities! Two areas of studies I've stumbled across in my Geography degree that I find absolutely fascinating!
5. I am really good at making people laugh, and being silly.
6. Favourite book: way to hard to choose, movie: Fifth Element, food: ANYTHING home made, preferably with fresh ingredients
7. I think my most positive character trait is my strength, it's something that I've seen grow as I'm becoming my own self and it surprises me every day
8. My best experience in a yoga class was probably during an inversion workshop I did with Melanie Caines of Nova Yoga, that was a day I really discovered my physical and emotional strength.
9. Favourite animal? All things cute, ugly, slimy, dry, mammal or other wise.
10. The most important thing I've learned in a yoga class is that it's okay to fall out of a pose. It's a good belief to have for practice and life.

1) I am here because: I needed to be. I needed something in my life that would help me discover myself and also a place where I felt accepted, loved and not judged, and this place with all of you wonderful people has helped me with all of these things.

2) 6 things that I can't live without. 1- water 2-trees/plants 3-pet snuggles 4-hemp oil hand lotion 5-books 6- canned beans of any form. They are great and you can make so many things out of them.

3) My top 3 goals in life are 1-to be happy in anything I do 2-travel 3-to have my own bit of land where I can grow things and have a really big swing set. (I love swings more than the average person)

4) Ask me about: anything you like. I will do my best to answer anything and everything

5) I am really good at: pretty much anything domestic. Wanna know how to make yogurt, vegan scalloped potatoes, plant a garden, do home canning and preserving, I can probably tell you.

6) Favorite book, movie and food: White Oleander, Marry Poppins, and the food one is tricky, but I guess I'd have to say raspberries. They are pretty awesome.

7) What is your most positive character trait? My ability to listen to and understand people.
Describe your best experience in a yoga class. Probably my first yin class. When I finished the class, I felt like my body was amazing and that it could do anything given time and love.

9) Favorite animal and why. I love all animals, but I really like goats. I think they are incredibly cute and I love how stubborn and determined they are.

10) What is the most important thing you have learned in a yoga class? To breathe.

and my favourite song at the moment:

1.) I am here because: I feel serene, joyful, ecstatic, loved, connected, happy, grateful. And when I don't feel those things, moksha reminds me that I will again in just a few breaths.
2) 6 Things I can’t live without: sun, sea, soil (and all of the things that grow from it...but that would make this list a million miles long), momma, little bebe nephew, nan's quilts, St. John's community  (I made it 7..oops!)
3) My top 3 goals in life are: grow and prepare nourishing food with love and share it, provide public education on (and access to) nutritious whole foods (especially geared toward people with young children and the elderly community and their care takers), annnnd build a barn for some serious barn parties! Seriously. Get ready to barn dance..all the time! Expect Christmas lights and lots of banjo and boot stomping.
4) Ask me about.. plants. They are magic. I LOVE them. We are blessed with lots of delicious wild ones. Like Sea Rocket! Imagine Arugula in love with Horseradish.
5) I’m really good at..hugging. Or so I hear! Big, giant bear hugs for everyone. For some reason I find myself holding back from hugging people lately. Even though all I want to do is hug everyone all of the time. Hahaha. What am I doing! If you see me, hug me. I'll love it!
6) Favourite book, movie, and food is..I just started reading “the lure of the Labrador wild, the story of Leonidas Hubbard” by Dillon Wallace. While I'm not far enough to judge if it is a favourite, so far it is fantastic. Annd I'm going to dork out here – my other favourite is a compilation of essays from a Canadian craft and contemporary studies class at NSCAD. Food..that is the hardest question of all! So much colour, texture, flavor to explore always. But I think I'd have to pick good old partridge berries. So sour and juicy. I don't have a favourite movie.
7) What is your most positive character trait? Definitely my optimistic view on life. A lot of people rag on me for being so optimistic and tell me to get my head back to reality, or question how I can remain so optimistic after some very tough stuff. But that's just it. My head is very much in reality. I am a very observant person and my optimism comes directly from that. If you observe, you get to see that things will always blossom and bounce back. Maybe not in direct ways all the time, but always in some way or another. Just observe
8) Describe your best experience in a yoga class: Kapalabhati breath one night in Steve's class. It just clicked SO good. It was the most incredible feeling I've ever had. Like being cleared out from toe to skull and starting as a completely new person. I've felt kinnd of like that only once before. On a beach in New Zealand. Sunny vibes both times  I am so excited to feel that again.
9) What is your favourite animal, and why? Moose. Seriously. They are so awkwardly beautiful and graceful at the same time. I honour and respect this animal so, so, so much. I am incredibly thankful that I have family who share such a nourishing wild food with me when they can. Oh and bears. They play in rivers, rest in winter, climb things and love berries. Amazing.
10) *New* (for relevance) What's the sign on your wrist? Cancer! :)
11) What is the most important thing you ever learned in a yoga class? Rest the mind. Rest the mind. Just give it a rest!
Fave song right now:
BRUUUUUUUCE!!!!

Brianna Richardson

1) I am here because:
I needed a St. John’s family. My first year living in St. John’s I had been searching for a yoga studio, having just experienced my first Moksha summer in Charlottetown I was hooked. It took me a while to find Jill Holden, but boy was I happy when I did. After a few of her Moksha-Inspired classes she mentioned she was working on opening a studio of her own. Never have I been so sure of something as when I emailed (harassed) her inquiring about somehow working together. Needless to say it was the best thing I ever did. I found my St. John’s family.
2) 6 Things I can’t live without:
1- My roommate, Michael Walsh. Literally, he is the chef of our house so I would starve if he weren’t there to feed me.
2- My St. John’s family aka my Sangha.
3- My claddagh ring
4- Water
5- My amazing friends
6- My rockin’ (crazy) family
Everything else I could totally live without.
3) My top 3 goals in life are:
1- To catch babies (Become a Midwife; Brianna Richardson BNRN, NP, RM)
2- Travel. Everywhere and anywhere I possibly can.
3- Win 50 Million Dollars.
4) Ask me about:
What I plan to do once I win 50 million dollars.
5) I’m really good at:
Oh god. Umm, drinking wine.
6) Favourite book, movie, and food:
Sadly, it has been a long time since I have read but this has been my favourite book for a while, mainly because it is a great book but also because I haven’t read much since then: The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
all time fav movie- Gidget!!
Favourite food, hmmm. If you would have asked me while I lived in Res, I would have told you Hashbrown Casserole. Which, don’t get me wrong, I love but truthfully it’s clementines. If I had to eat only one thing for the rest of my life, that’s what it would be! In fact, I’m eating one right now.
7) What is your most positive character trait?
This is a difficult question so I asked my roommate and he said “your niceness, your kindness, your gentleness, your positivity, your ray of sunshineness, your bringing-of-happiness, you are a positive force in peoples lives”
I am crying while typing this. Isn’t he so sweet!!
8 ) Describe your best experience in yoga class:
Tonight (Feb. 25th) with Tiff was pretty fantastic but I will have to say it was one class with Jill Willcott beside me. The entire class was awesome, I felt free which lately I have been having some challenges with but at the end in final savasana, I was taking up so much space so Jill and I held hands. Just so everyone knows this chick is one wicked yogini, therefore I had the best savasana since I don’t even know when. Usually during savasana, I’m like “Inhale, Exhale, wish I could get a falafel from Cedar’s tonight. Inhale, Exhale, there are so many dishes to do at home. Inhale, Exhale, stop thinking and just breathe. Inhale, Exhale. Inhale, Exhale. Inhale, Ex…If I only had 50 Million Dollars..”, but during that final resting pose with Jill Willcott, my mind was peaceful.
9) What is your favourite animal, and why?
Elephants. Their four strong legs represent life’s four pillars- the mind, heart, soul and love. The elephant’s thick skin teaches us to stick with it- even through the worst. It’s trunk symbolizes ambition-follow what you want in life, despite all obstacles, go for what you want. The elephant may have a small brain but it has an awesome memory: to forgive but never forget. And the tail…when elephants travel in groups they hold onto each others tail; stay close to your family and friends.
I like dogs too, because they’re cute.
10) What is the most important thing you ever learned in a yoga class?
This question is taking me a long time to answer. Since my time with MYSJ I have learned so much. Most absolutely important thing would have to be to breathe.
After I learned how to breathe I: passed all my courses, ran my first 10km, dominated the go-kart racetrack, became a conference director, basically realized I can do anything I want to do, as long as I just breathe.

So much gratitude to our amazing teachers!!!!
9) What is your favourite animal, and why? Horses. They are powerful, beautiful and amazing creatures which run like the wind. I wanted a horse ever since I was able to ask for one. I had a game plan for feeding and housing him/her. My parents said no. haha (ask me about it!!)

1) I am here because:
I am here because I was meant to be here. I was on a mission last year to figure out who and what made me happy, which therefore lead me to this studio and everyone in it!!

7) What is your most positive character trait?
Hardiness- I try and look at a stressful (or potentially stressful) situation as a challenge
Describe your best experience in a yoga class:
After tearing my ACL last year I was intimidated to get back in the hot room because I couldn't bend my knee. Jill took the time to show me how to use a block, a strap and alternative poses to take pressure off my knee. The first day I did "hero pose" without a block I almost cried haha
9) What is your favourite animal, and why?
In the domestic context I would have to say birds. My parents have never been big on pets but I convinced them to let me buy a budgie bird when I was 12. I named him Turkey and he stayed in the family for 3 years. He cuddled, flew around the house and said things like "what's for dinner" and "turkey soup". He was wicked!
10) What is the most important thing you ever learned in a yoga class?
In one class Steve said "Regrets are just lessons you haven't learned yet". Yoga has taught me to let go. Everything and everyone has something to teach us and all you can do is grow from them.
