1.) I am here because: I feel serene, joyful, ecstatic, loved, connected, happy, grateful. And when I don't feel those things, moksha reminds me that I will again in just a few breaths.
2) 6 Things I can’t live without: sun, sea, soil (and all of the things that grow from it...but that would make this list a million miles long), momma, little bebe nephew, nan's quilts, St. John's community (I made it 7..oops!)
3) My top 3 goals in life are: grow and prepare nourishing food with love and share it, provide public education on (and access to) nutritious whole foods (especially geared toward people with young children and the elderly community and their care takers), annnnd build a barn for some serious barn parties! Seriously. Get ready to barn dance..all the time! Expect Christmas lights and lots of banjo and boot stomping.
4) Ask me about.. plants. They are magic. I LOVE them. We are blessed with lots of delicious wild ones. Like Sea Rocket! Imagine Arugula in love with Horseradish.
5) I’m really good at..hugging. Or so I hear! Big, giant bear hugs for everyone. For some reason I find myself holding back from hugging people lately. Even though all I want to do is hug everyone all of the time. Hahaha. What am I doing! If you see me, hug me. I'll love it!
6) Favourite book, movie, and food is..I just started reading “the lure of the Labrador wild, the story of Leonidas Hubbard” by Dillon Wallace. While I'm not far enough to judge if it is a favourite, so far it is fantastic. Annd I'm going to dork out here – my other favourite is a compilation of essays from a Canadian craft and contemporary studies class at NSCAD. Food..that is the hardest question of all! So much colour, texture, flavor to explore always. But I think I'd have to pick good old partridge berries. So sour and juicy. I don't have a favourite movie.
7) What is your most positive character trait? Definitely my optimistic view on life. A lot of people rag on me for being so optimistic and tell me to get my head back to reality, or question how I can remain so optimistic after some very tough stuff. But that's just it. My head is very much in reality. I am a very observant person and my optimism comes directly from that. If you observe, you get to see that things will always blossom and bounce back. Maybe not in direct ways all the time, but always in some way or another. Just observe
8) Describe your best experience in a yoga class: Kapalabhati breath one night in Steve's class. It just clicked SO good. It was the most incredible feeling I've ever had. Like being cleared out from toe to skull and starting as a completely new person. I've felt kinnd of like that only once before. On a beach in New Zealand. Sunny vibes both times I am so excited to feel that again.
9) What is your favourite animal, and why? Moose. Seriously. They are so awkwardly beautiful and graceful at the same time. I honour and respect this animal so, so, so much. I am incredibly thankful that I have family who share such a nourishing wild food with me when they can. Oh and bears. They play in rivers, rest in winter, climb things and love berries. Amazing.
10) *New* (for relevance) What's the sign on your wrist? Cancer! :)
11) What is the most important thing you ever learned in a yoga class? Rest the mind. Rest the mind. Just give it a rest!
Fave song right now:
BRUUUUUUUCE!!!!
